LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON

September 29th, 1989 I took my first breath, they said i smiled and cried until there was none left. I remember everything, every single detail, clinging on daddy’s leg like don’t leave and i’ll be good i promise. I wanna tell the whole world about a friend of mine, this big old light of mine and I’m gunna let it shine. You work late nights just to keep on the lights, daddy got me training wheels at 2 years old so i could keep on my bike. And you would give anything in this world, Michael Jackson hat and glove, watch me dance in the living room hush. And you never put no one over me, and i love you for that dad can’t you see? Seven years old, i hurt you a little more and i said Dad I’m going love you till it doesn’t hurt anymore.  And when I’m older you won’t have to work any more, and imma get you that house we couldn’t afford. See you’re unbreakable, unmistakable, highly capable. A living legend too, heaven sent you. It doesn’t need to be Father’s Day, or your birthday, for me to just call and say hey papa. Love you,
