A SOUND HEARD FROM AROUND THE WORLD
I wake up every morning and before I hear the music i make or someone else’s i hear the sounds of the world around me. For me as a musician my hearing is more important to me than any of my other senses and anything in this world. I couldn’t imagine what would happen if i lost my ability to hear. Sadly the children of our world, our own brothers and sisters do not have the same gift we take for granted each day.
Last year i met the good people at Starkey. Starkey saved my hearing. Playing drums is never a soft instrument and trying to balance your sound with other members in your band can be really tedious and take a huge toll on your ears. Night after night i would leave the stage with my ears ringing and didn’t realize how much irreversible damage i was doing to myself. In 1984 the Starkey Hearing Foundation stated “Alone we can’t do much, but, together we can change the world”. And that simple “never give up” attitude and moto has always made what seemed to be impossible possible. Who would have thought that in two decades they could bring hearing to someone thats never heard a note in their life. Its truly amazing when you put it all in perspective and i wish you could witness first hand as i have the passion these people have for what they do.
Hearing Angels is a foundation that give children the gift of hearing and it can be yours too. It’s gratifying for me to know whether i give a dollar or a million I am directly contributing to changing a child’s life forever. And i can be a direct link to that. And so can you. Join myself, Taylor Swift, Steve Martin, Gavin Degraw, Michael Bolton, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, Lou Ferrigno, and the thousands around the world that our making a difference in a life. I know i speak often about my yearning for us all to unite but it is only because i believe in the power of numbers and how much something that is not a big deal to you can mean the world to someone else. Whether you contribute one dollar or a million you’re personally making hearing possible for so many around the world. Knowledge is power and your help to spread the word can also be richer than money. One love.
